Upcoming Provider Fingerprint-Based Criminal Background Checks
In accordance with 42 CFR 455.434(b), N.C. Medicaid and Children Health Insurance Program (CHIP) providers designated as “high categorical risk” under 42 CFR 424.518(c) and N.C.G.S. 108C-3(g), or any person with a 5 percent or more direct or indirect ownership interest in the organization - as those terms are defined in 42 CFR 455.101 - will be required to submit a set of fingerprints to the N.C. Division of Medical Assistance (DMA) through its enrollment vendor, CSRA. Implementation will be July 30, 2017, and is retroactively effective for providers enrolled or revalidated on or after August 1, 2015.
Providers required to submit fingerprints will be notified via the NCTracks provider portal. Locations in North Carolina where fingerprinting services will be offered will be posted on the NCTracks website.
