ICD-10 Q&A
The following questions arrived in the NCTracks ICD-10 Inbox since the transition to ICD-10 codes on October 1.
Q: When an ICD-10 diagnosis code is entered on a claim, is it to be entered WITH the decimal or WITHOUT the decimal?
A: The decimal is optional in NCTracks. However, some practice management software or billing clearinghouses may require it, so providers should check with them.
Q: Upon further review, our issue appears to be connected with the software program that our corporation uses instead of with NCTracks. We are working with our software vendor for resolution of this issue. Thank you.
A: The problem some providers have encountered with ICD-10 is sometimes the result of business software. The transition to ICD-10 codes affects systems from patient treatment to billing to claim processing. If you are not certain regarding the source of your issue, compare what you entered into your practice management software with what is on the Remittance Advice (RA).
Q: Where can I find out more information about using the proper ICD Qualifier?
A: Information about the ICD Qualifier can be found under the Quick Links section on the right side of the Trading Partner webpage: https://www.nctracks.nc.gov/content/public/providers/provider-trading-partners.html and also in the ICD-10 Help Kit.
