Most hospitals are well into preparation for ICD-10 and have already noticed that payment varies between ICD-9 PCS (inpatient) codes and ICD-10 PCS codes. These variances occur mainly due to the hospital DRG codes from CMS. The CPT codes on professional claims don’t have the same effect. The payment variances have only been seen on hospital inpatient codes.
